Apple's CEO Steve Jobs may about to reveal the story of his life.

According to The New York Times, Jobs is likely to collaborate on an authorized biography, to be written by Walter Isaacson, a former managing editor of Time magazine.

Isaacson has a good track record as author of two best-selling biographies, "Einstein: His Life and Universe" and "Benjamin Franklin: An American Life."

Isaacson most recently wrote "American Sketches: Great Leaders, Creative Thinkers, and Heroes of a Hurricane," a collection of essays. All Isaacson's books have been published by Simon & Schuster.

The Apple co-founder is notorious for saying little in public about the company or his personal life. His official Apple bio offers the following: "Steve grew up in the apricot orchards which later became known as Silicon Valley, and still lives there with his family."

Last year, Apple tried to block a lengthy 4,000 word plus profile of Steve Jobs from being published in the Sunday Times newspaper.

Respected journalist and author Bryan Appleyard reported Apple twice tried unsuccessfully to halt the story, which covered familiar and not so familiar ground including Apple's iconic appeal, Job's upbringing, patchy education, love life, control freak nature, business success and failure and his health.

"Apple hates personality stuff and press intrusion. "We want to discourage profiles," an Apple PR tells me stiffly, apparently unaware she is waving a sackful of red rags at a herd of bulls," Appleyard wrote. "Another PR rings the editor of this magazine to try to halt publication of this piece."

Jobs opened up about his liver transplant later in 2009, when he made a public return to Apple launching revised iPods and a new iTunes. "As some of you know, about five months ago I had a liver transplant," Jobs said. "I now have the liver of a mid-20s person who died in a car crash and was generous enough to donate their organs, and I wouldn't be here without such generosity."

As per the information revealed by the New York Times, the well-known Apple CEO Steve Jobs will give the world a peek into his distinctively 'private' life by the way of his biography, which will be penned by Walter Isaacson, the ex-CEO of CNN and the ex-editor of Time Magazine.

Isaacson, presently is running the Aspen Institute, a non-profit group promoting leadership and public policy discussions, has earlier written biographies of Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, and Henry Kissinger.

Going by the Times' information, Jobs' biography, which is currently in the planning stages, will cover the entire life and career span of the man behind the success of Apple. For collecting relevant material, right from Jobs' childhood to his recent years as the famous Apple CEO, Isaacson will reportedly make a trip to Jobs' childhood home.

The book will not be the first one about Jobs – while quite a few unauthorized histories have been written about the man, this will be the first book to be produced with Jobs' consent and cooperation.

Though neither Isaacson nor an Apple representative have disclosed any details about the 'sanctioned' biography, it is pretty obvious that that book will largely focus on Jobs' legacy as a technology futurist, rather than his personality traits and his treatment of his employees.

There are so many so-called celebrities releasing biographies, but when it comes to us tech fans, there is only one book that we would like to read, and that is the Steve Jobs Authorized Biography. Apple has yet to officially announce the book, but according to an article in the New York Times, it is coming. Well he does have time now, as he has just announced the release of the iPad and will be a few months before we hopefully see the new iPhone 4G.

There have been a number of unauthorized biographies, these were done without the consent of Apple's CEO. As you would imagine, these would often be inaccurate, some of these were removed from store shelves. According to the NY Times, Steve Jobs will work with Walter Isaacson to produce the authorized biography.

For those who do not know Isaacson, he was the former Time magazine managing editor and has already had two best selling biographies, one on Albert Einstein and the other on Benjamin Franklin. Will you be one of those who will want to read the life of Steve Jobs?
